Feature Request

Im very happy with your app Listen Up. Just one short feature request: could you please implement saving the recorded sound to a computer? I use this great app to record bird songs and want to transfer the records somehow...

Cant choose microphone

If youre using earphones that have a built-in mic you are forced to use it. Cant use the higher quality mic built into the iPhone.

Awesome app!

Its like having an mini recording studio on your iphone. Great way to record and sample audio from all around you. Very original app. Ignore the other review about this app not supporting iTouch 1st Gen--it doesnt claim to and says it only works on iPhone 2nd gen. It does exactly what it claims and does it very well.

This App Rocks!

This app works exactly as advertised! Fantastic results! Who knew my iphone was such a great recording device! Five Thumbs Up!

SpyApps - Listen Up

This application does absolutely nothing. Do not buy it.

Awesome!

Works great, would be worth it even without the filters and recording capability. It would be nice to have a feature to stop sounds over a given threshold from reaching your ears (like a brick wall limiter of some sort). But for $2 this is a 6 * app. Yet another tool to add to the iPhones amazing array of them...

Horrible!!!!!

It doesnt amplify anything !!! Same sound level!!! My mother is mostly deaf and it helped her none at all in a movie theatre with her hearing aids in and on !!!!!!

Simply worthless!

Enough said.

Does Exactly What It Says It Does

Ive owned this app for a while, and had to come back and comment on it. These reviewers who say it doesnt amplify anything or do anything are very mistaken. My guess is they didnt read the instructions. You must use 3 pole 3.5 MM set of headphones or earbuds. This is basically any 3.5 MM set of headphones without a microphone built in. You cannot use the earbuds that came with your iPhone. Those are 4 pole and when you plug them in, they disable the external microphone and you are listening to only your voice. Also, its important to turn your device upside down. The external microphone is at the bottom of the device and you need to spin you device around to point it at the target of the sound you want to hear. The user interface adjusts for this. The sound filters all work as advertised. Especially the mic boost. In fact, be careful with it, because it can get unbearably loud. Another note is dont just boost the mic, start the app, press the listen button and use the volume controls of your iPhone to turn up the output volume before you try boosting the mic. My only complaint is the slight delay between the inbound sound and what your hear in the headphones. However, I saw in a TechCrunch.com comment that the author has fixed this issue and an update is pending. All of these instructions are in the info page of the app too.

Version 2.0 Update is Much Better

Its great to see that the delay I was experiencing between reality and what I hear through this app has disappeared. The in-app email feature was a nice addition too.

The Best None Game App Ever

i loved this app even before the update and though i guess it can be used for a number of (dif) things, i used/ use them as TV ears. Like the ones that cost 50+ in the stores, i never tried those and im sure they may work better but these work great to block out the noise when im watching my scifi/SyFy since i live in a dorm with a bunch of loud mouth_a whole lotta words, and they never shut the_one word, up, _ that word with a ing, never!!!!!!!! Even right now as i right this review im using them, and i cant hear a thing but a pooey B rated Syfy original playing on TV blasting in my ears. But whats even better is, before the update though they still worked good, for my purpose, to get the best quality i had to put my iphone directly next to the tv, with a pair of long wired stereo headphones. But now whith the new update my iphone can sit right on my lap, like my girlfriend would if i had one_ some comedic riff. But no, all kidding aside, they feel wireless now opposite of having to sit like a robot and not being able to move around much, the sound quality seems to be improved and more percise. i cant vow for what other reviews may or may not say about the purpose they use them for, and if they do or dont work, but to be fare to my dorm mates, i do have a hyper sensitive auditory thingy, and these work great and are better than "amplitude" if your looking for an app for the same purpose. put it this way if they/devs/dev did a lite version of this where the app had a timer or cut out after your device went to sleep, id pay 20$ to get this one that doesnt have a timer, and still works when your device goes to sleep, knowing that something in the retail store would cost me double, and for something that would break or malfunction eventually, alot sooner than my iphone "knock on wood" and the app that is about 98% less. This is a really great app, with this, naturespace, and old time radio podcast, all through itunes i dont have to hear anything i dont want to hear when im watching TV=this app, reading/ and sometimes sleeping= naturespace, but mostly sleeping= oldtime radio podcats, this is the perfect combo if you are someone with a similar condition. What would really be cool is if some dev did a learning spanish app or whatever that you could listen to while you slept that kept looping and never cut off even when your device went to sleep. I dont know how many words the average conversation has but lets say its 200 words? so you take the most common 200 words and put them in spanish " or whatever" for the first 30min have those words loop pronouncing and translating from english to spanish "or whatever" by a native spanish toung, scientificly a womens voice between the age of late 20s to middle aged, which is the sound the human brain is most receptive to aside from a crying baby and for the next 30min have those words loop in a diolog conversation/s and then back to the single word translation etc, etc, that would be cool.

Awesome

Does exactly as it says. A bit of a trick adjusting the levels. <3 this app.

This app did not work

I did follow the instrction and are using the correct type of earphone. It simply does not work. Why even bother to write somthing like this?

Do not buy

Very appealing but very ineffective application. A total waste.

Waste of $$

If you are into throwing your money away please buy this app. Its terrible, I have given it every possible chance its totally useless.

Complete waste

Total waste. Completely without value. I wish I would have bothered to read the reviews before purchasing. This app was on my phone less than 30 min.

Pointless

This app actually worked for me, but it became pointless in having it when I was trying to email the saved file to myself. It just wont do it and there is no other way to retrieve your saved files from the iPhone and save them in your computer. In this sense is throughly pointless to have it. You can record files and save them but CANT transfere them from the iPhone. Just bad.

Dont waste your money.

This app is just plain bad. The free sound amp is better and has simpler, more effective controls. I regret not buying the soundamp R for $5 before jumping on this seemingly good deal. Get that if youre going to spend money.

Waste of money

Simply IT DOESNT WORK. DO NOT WASTE UR MONEY.

Dont like

I wasnt able to get it to pick up sounds that thought it should oh well might just bee to many setting for me to tune in
